Flex Credit

Southeastern Local School District
Credit Flexibility
Overview & Guidelines

Ohio Senate Bill 311 allows alternate pathways for those students who are eligible to receive high school credit through the use of Credit Flexibility Plans (CFP). Ohio students are able to earn high school credit in three ways, or in a combination of these ways:

1.    By completing traditional coursework
2.    By testing out by demonstrating mastery of the course content; or
3.    By pursuing one or more “educational options” (e.g., distance learning, educational travel, independent study, internship, music, arts, after school program, community service, or engagement project).

Ohio’s plan for credit flexibility is designed to broaden the score of curricular options available to students, increase the depth of study available for a particular subject and tailor the learning time or conditions needed (to shorten or lengthen the time necessary to complete a high school diploma and/or postsecondary degree).  In these ways, students can customize aspects of their learning around more of their interests and needs.

Principal's Message

Welcome to Southeastern High School, one of the finest small schools in Ohio.   The 2010-11 school year brings many changes to Southeastern High School.  Most noticeably, Southeastern has expanded to serve students in grades 7-12 and its formal name is now Southeastern Junior and Senior High School.  We look forward to the many new challenges and opportunities this year will bring and warmly welcome our new students, their parents, and new staff members!

Southeastern's family-like atmosphere, in which each student receives the attention s/he deserves, is created by approximately 400 students and 40 staff members.  Through our high expectations and hard work, the students and staff members have earned the Ohio Department of Education's "Excellent School" designation each year since 1999.  The Southeastern family is currently working together to increase that streak to thirteen years in a row!

Our attendance and graduation rates are both over 96 percent and over half of our students are on the honor roll and have perfect attendance each quarter.  Approximately 80 percent of our students are involved in extra-curricular activities. These activities range from our impressive athletic teams to being class officers or members of the NHS and FEA. Our successful FCCLA team has competed on a national level several times and several FFA members have earned the prestigious American FFA Degree. Our students also show their creative abilities by competing in art shows, performing in the band and choir, and producing a school musical each year.

Our school motto is simple, but its challenge to each of us is complex.  Southeastern High School is a great place to learn and work together as we Strive for Excellence!

Go Trojans!

Principal
