New Quarantine Guidelines Starting 10/27/2021



Southeastern Local School District will implement the new Ohio Department of Health (ODH) recommended quarantine protocols starting tomorrow 10/27/21. The changes from ODH are a step forward in allowing students to remain in school and participate in extracurricular activities. This is a positive step in allowing our students to attend school more consistently by reducing the disruptions due to out of school quarantine.

There are two new components: 1) Mask to Stay and 2) Test to Play. Below is a summary of the new guidance. Southeastern recommends that parents and students read the official document (linked below) released by ODH.

1)Mask to Stay

The new quarantine protocols allow students and staff that have been exposed to Covid-19 in a school setting to quarantine in school by wearing a mask regardless of vaccination status. Students and staff must wear a mask for up to 14 days from their last date of exposure. All individuals are supposed to self monitor their symptoms. Students and staff may discontinue these quarantine procedures after seven days — if they meet two basic criteria: one – they don’t develop symptoms, and two – they test negative between days 5-7.

While parents and students are responsible for symptom monitoring, if school staff or school nurses see a child exhibiting symptoms they should act accordingly.

2)Test to Play

Students that have been exposed to Covid-19 in a school environment that do not exhibit any symptoms may continue to participate in extracurricular activities if they:
